Land and Resources: Khabarovsk Territory is located in the Far East of the Russian Federation. On the west and north, the territory borders on subjects of the Russian Federation, i.e., the Jewish Autonomous Region, Amur Region, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Magadan Region. The eastern boundary passes through the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan, dividing the territorial waters of Khabarovsk Territory and Sakhalin Region. Primorye Territory and China border on the territory in the south.
The territory occupies an area of 788 600 km2 or 4.5% of Russia`s total area. More than half of the territory consists of plateaus and mountains. An extensive river system allows the use and development of river shipping, and the territory`s thousands of lakes abound in fish.
Climate: The territory has a moderate monsoon climate with average summer temperatures of no more than +24 °C in the south and +15 °C in the north; winter temperatures range from -23 °C in the south to -40 °C in the north in inland regions and -18 °C and -24°C, respectively, on the coast.
Transportation: The capital city, Khabarovsk, is at the junction of the Amur River and the Trans-Siberian railway. Khabarovsk is served by Khabarovsk Novy Airport with international flights to East Asia, Southeast Asia, European Russia, and Central Asia.
Khabarovsk is the administrative center and the largest city of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia. It is the second largest city in the Russian Far East, after Vladivostok. The history of the city of Khabarovsk began in late May 1858. Khabarovka was granted city status on October 30, 1880.
Much of the local indigenous history has been well-preserved in the Regional Lore Museum and Natural History Museum and in places like near the Nanai settlement of Sikhachi-Alyan, where cliff drawings from more than 1,300 years ago can be found. The Khabarovsk Art Museum exhibits a rare collection of old Russian icons.
Visitors to the picturesque city of Khabarovsk are likely to enjoy walking the broad Amursky Boulevard with its many vibrant shops and perhaps visit the local market.
Recently, there have been many renovations in the city`s central part, rebuilding with historical perspective. A popular attraction for visitors is a walking tour from the Lenin Square to Utes via Muravyov-Amursky Street, where visitors can find traditional Russian cuisine restaurants and shops with souvenirs.
There are a number of fine gardens and parks. The city is also bordered by some amazing forests.
There are numerous theatres, cinemas and stadiums.

Large number of professional and unprofessional theaters, cinemas, concert stages, which stars of the Russian variety and theater don`t avoid, operates in the city.
Khabarovsk regional theater of drama - the repertoire of the drama theater includes plays of foreign and Russian classicists and plays of modern writers, including far eastern ones.
Regional theater of musical comedy is the oldest theater of Khabarovsk. It was founded in 1926 and was called the theater of “Comical opera”. Operettas and musical comedies, which have become the classics of the genre, are staged in it.
Theater “Triada” is a theater of pantomime, it is very popular among amateurs of theatrical arts. Plays with deep philosophic idea and simply entertaining shows for adults and children are produced on its stage.

Khabarovsk won`t set aside amateurs of fine art. For it in the city there are many operating galleries and exhibition halls with constantly exchangeable expositions.
Exhibition hall named after Fedotov: exhibitions of the leading far eastern artists are held in the hall. The constantly renewed exposition makes it always new and interesting for frequent visitors.
Art-vault: the small comfortable hall, where works of famous Khabarovsk artists and even children are exhibited. Readings and recitals are frequently held in this comfortable hall.
SKV – gallery: courage and firmness in a persuasion, search of freedom of thought, innovation of an idea, - it is a short description of this relatively young but very interesting gallery, in which you may often see original exhibitions.
House of Hobbyists: exhibitions of applied art of the North and Far East district nationalities are regularly held here.
The majority of Khabarovsk inhabitants profess Orthodoxy. In the city there are enough small churches, there is also one, if it is possible to say so, the main orthodox temple of the city which accepts a lot of believers under the vaults for holidays.
Temple of Prelate Innokentiy the Irkutsk
Solemn opening ceremony of a new cathedral temple of a diocese – Svyato-Preobrazhensky cathedral, the third largest Orthodox church of Russia after Christ the Savior temple in Moscow and Isaakievsky temple in saint-Petersburg took place in Khabarovsk in 2004. Its height from the ground up to the top of its gold dome from the altar side makes 95 meters. Weight of the cathedral is 80,000 tons, weight of bells – 3,000 tons.
Monuments are a part of the city history
In Khabarovsk nobody tried to rewrite and alter this history. Today numerous monuments of the cultural center of the region are looked absolutely differently than earlier. Created by talented recognized sculptors, they are spread in the whole city and tell about the most significant events and the outstanding people which have left the trace in the historical past of city and the country.
The central recreation park: is located in the picturesque area on the coast of the Amur river, in the city centre. Side-shows, cafes, a beach are at the disposal of resting people. In the evenings - discos for the youth.
City recreation park "Dynamo": the big park in the city centre. The area is 31 ha. Near the park the city ponds, which now are being restored for the citizens` rest, are located.
City recreation park named after J.Gagarin: this park is a place of the industrial city area inhabitants.
Children`s park named after A.P.Gajdar: is a favourite place for city children`s rest. Colourful inflatable small towns, swings, slides – here there is all young citizens of Khabarovsk. And at this time their parents can have a rest in the shadow of trees.
Lenin square: the central square of the city, which is being restored and improved by the city authorities not for the first time, in order, to be a modern rest place for citizens of all age range, despite its name.
